Armageddon...

Our fascination with the end has been the only thing that has connected men across races, Ages and Civilisations.

The old world (or rather, should I say the really old world) believed that the answer to delaying it lay in sacrificing new born, virgins, PoWs (basically humans and an old animal thrown in here and there).

THE GREAT DELUGE

Isn't also strange that almost all great civilisations (Sumer, Mayan, Aryan, Incas, Aztecs, Olmecs etc) all talk about the Great Deluge. Well, it wasn't just Noah who escaped. Across cultures, it seems people escaped by building boats, rushing off to the mountains or clinging onto the trees. The 'Boat' stories are remarkably similar across all various civilisations (civilisations/Tribes of Latin America, Hebrew text and the Sumer).

This similarity is eeringly, what I call, ParaVoid stuff - no emails, no www, and definitely no Blogs!

How many great deluges stories are there? Around 550 stories are known around the world. [According to a study of 86 of these stories, 20 Asiatic, 3 European, 7 African, 46 American, 10 Australian and Pacific, it was found that 62 of these stories were independent of the Hebrew and Sumerian Stories.

When does this world end?
According to the Mayan Calendar [incidentally a calendar more accurate our present day one] calculates the day to:

  • 23rd December, 2012 A.D.

[Sounds 'ParaVoid', eh? Today, it seems crap - the human race can't be wiped off so fast, can it? But Noah would have also died if the Christian God didn't tell him, Manu if the Hindu God [Vishnu] didn't tell him, Utnapishrim if the Sumerian Gods didn't warn him!]

Caveat: While all mentioned here are 'Facts', I am, in no way, a doomsday man or hysterical [man, I am scared!]
